Art, vineyard, and wines

Welcome to Luciole!

Luciole Vineyard was established in 2006 on the volcanic soils of Parrett mountain. Luciole translated from French means “firefly”; beacons of light and energy that are captured in each bottle of Luciole, Single Vineyard, Pinot Noir. The vineyard faces east/southeast with breathtaking views of Mt Hood. At an elevation of 500 feet, the vines are cooled by evening breezes to maintain the grapes integrity throughout the summer season and to retain the natural acidity for a long-lived wine. The soil types are Jory and Nekia which typically provide a red fruit character on the nose and palate. As the vineyard has matured, additional complexity of the wine is apparent with each successive vintage. Farming practices are organic to compliment the natural rhythms and needs of the planet. The grapes are gently hand-picked in the cool hours of the morning to be vinified by winemaker, Thibaud Mandet. His eonological and chemistry prowess deftly enables the extraction of the multifaceted flavors that illustrate the distinctive volcanic terroir of this Chehalem Mountains AVA site.

In addition to wine, you can also find fine art at Luciole. Bill has honed the craft of oil painting by apprenticing with premier artists of Bucks county, Pennsylvania. Still life collections of vegetables, eggs, portraits, and more can be found on the Artwork page. Each series showcases diverse and unique subjects. These pieces are sought after collectors items that bring life and elegance into one’s home.

We hope that you savor every brush stroke and drop of wine…. Bill & Laurie.
